Make no mistake: we love 2Pac and his music вЂ“ we just contend that this album, while good, is not as good as is often said. You could turn that around and say itвЂ™s disrespectful to the dozens of artists in Hip Hop history to ignore the fact they had better albumsВ than 2Pac had. Lots of people get butthurt when 2Pac isnвЂ™t religiously praised, acting as if not blindly celebrating everything he has ever done is disrespectful. It all started when someone asked him about his charity organization, Yle Haiti, and the mysterious case of 10 million in donations that mysterious disappeared. Keep вЂњAmbitionz As A RidahвЂќ, вЂњGot My Mind Made UpвЂќ, вЂњHow Do You Want ItвЂќ, вЂњ2 Of Amerikaz Most WantedвЂќ, вЂњNo More PainвЂќ, вЂњHeartz Of MenвЂќ, вЂњLife Goes OnвЂќ, вЂњOnly God Can Judge MeвЂќ, вЂњI AinвЂ™t Mad At ChaвЂќ, вЂњCanвЂ™t C MeвЂќ, вЂњPicture Me RollinвЂ™вЂќ, вЂњAll Eyez On MeвЂќ, and maybe one or two more tracks вЂ“ and thatвЂ™s a tight album. When the rapper/producer had an AMA to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fugees' The Score, he probably had no idea he was entering a firing squad. AEOMВ could have been excellent if 2Pac had released the best half as a single album. That half should have been left on the cutting room floor. The Score Lyrics: (Y-Y-You rockin' loud but you ain't sayin' nothin') / It's time I settle the score / (I play my enemies like a game of chess) / (Playin' Mr. 2PacвЂ™s subject matter on this album is limited (too much thuggery, not enough of the soul and intelligence still in evidence on his first three albums), and the endless list of guest vocalists donвЂ™t help things either (especially 2PacвЂ™s Outlawz buddies are mediocre rappers at best), it makes the whole album feel more like a compilation album than a 2Pac solo album.Д®xcept for вЂњWhatz Ya Phone #вЂќ there are no really terrible songs on All Eyez On MeВ (although the remix of the classic вЂњCalifornia LoveвЂќ is far inferior to the original), but half of the tracklist is kind of generic and forgettable. Especially the second part of the album just goes on and on with what seems to be the same track over and over again, a ridiculous amount of filler really.

I started bumping The Score again because there's nothing left to impress me, and i actually played the terrible remixes to the classic Fu-Gee-La song. Me Against The WorldВ (1995) comes closest, but All Eyez On MeВ вЂ“ his most successful and most celebrated album вЂ“ is far from perfect.Д«ecause of its impact and success, AEOMВ is seen as one of the biggest classics in Hip Hop ever, but at 27 tracks and 2 hours & 12 minutes, the album simply is way too long. Akon was on The Fugees' 'The Score' hiphop. Of the five albums completed during his life, not one is flawless. The reason 2Pac is widely considered one of the GOATs has everything to do with his personality, his charisma, his star power, his poetic flair, his unique voice, the strength of his singles, and the manner and time of his death and less with his lyrical skill or the quality of his albums.

Random fact: another rap group i listened to a lot around that era was Camp Lo (although that might have been '97). Usually skits just annoy me, but this one's hilarious. He is one of the highest-selling artists too, with more monumental songsВ than anyone in the game. Another thing worth mentioning about The Score, is that it contains something extremely rare: a skit that is actually funny. 2Pac is one of the most iconic artists in the history of Hip Hop.
